went out to see Kevin Smith do his live podcast in Santa Monica last night... super funny and super fun :) can't wait to go back! and here's what i wore

as of late i've been taking outfit photos (not as many as usual) and just not blogging them, i know... i stink! lols but i thought i'd share a few from the last few weeks to make up for my stinkyness lols

[i wore this for my friend's birthday celebration at the end of august ... we ended up driving all the way up to the Getty Museum (almost 2 hours worth of traffic including into the parking structure) and then deciding to turn back around in the parking structure because we just wouldn't have had enough time to enjoy anything :/ i felt really bad for her sister who was driving but she was a great sport about it... plus the entire 3+ hours in the car was us singing along to oldies but goodies from her ipod! i don't really think anything else could've been as fun as that anyways ;) there were many more adventures after that in this outfit but i wont bore you guys lols]

[first off sorry for the cruddy photo quality. so this was what i wore from last friday night. it's not anything spectacularly special but i freakin love the way i look in it! lols... as cute as i thought i was its so ironic that we were going to a lesbian bar that night (me being straight and all ;P) lmao... i was being an amazing wing man for a very good friend of mine and i thoroughly enjoyed myself :) i cannot wait to wear this outfit again! lols]

triumphant return!

well... maybe not so triumphant lols but i'm definitely working on my return! woohooo! i have a sort of update post in the works... just of outfit photos from the past month and yadda yadda... but for now i'll just share a few random things... first is this outfit i wore on Friday... to run errands and actually be a hermit with some friends... i opted out of a night at the club on Friday and i wasn't disappointed with my decision :)... poker til 3am?! lmao sure! i threw on a necklace after i took this photo... i just enjoy how for some reason this "dress" added with the cut off denim bermudas make me feel/look really tall! i quite enjoy it :)

and next i'd like to just quickly mention how much i reaaaaaally want this!

and last but definitely not least is just something i'd like to mention having to do with the gay and lesbian community... i've found myself having a lot of conversations with friends of mine that are gay, lesbian, and bi... about life, love and everything in between... and i just have to give my utmost respect and admiration to those who have to struggle with the stresses of a gay/lesbian lifestyle... i was just realizing today, imagine the difficulties we face in our lives as it is... working, living, relationships... just as straight individuals... then imagine throwing in the stress from friction and resistance from people in your life, as well as random strangers you don't even know, just because of who you choose to love and care for... i mean... the stress and pressure of making a relationship work with another person is hard enough... and then think about what it would be like if almost everyone else in your life was an obstacle for your relationship as well... that is a fucking insanely crazy thing to have to deal with... and i just want those of you who deal with that every single day... to know that I myself respect and admire the bullshit you have to deal with <3 (i know this is probably extremely obvious, but it struck me tonight so i had to mention it)

NDOTD 1/25... AAAND a DIY! aren't you lucky ;)

NDOTD (No Denim Of The Day) 1/25... damn this challenge already! i didn't wanna go out today lolz i wanted to stay inside and DIY every t-shirt i owned (after reading about this DIY on Fran Jayy's lovely blog) but just for youuuuu suckas... i got dressed :) and i had to go eat dinner & pick up sum necessities from the stoh' too... so yeah... blah...

[i was contemplating between the shirt tucked in or not... now that i look at it i kind of like the tucked in better even though it makes my torso look awkward hahaha <3 the awkward... well this was the final say...]

so while perusing a new blog i found (The Frantic Dreams of You're Modern Day Giant) i came across a DIY she's doing that she got from another blog i follow (Childhood Flames) for this awesomely simple/fun/grungy/did i mention awesome?! shredded tee! here's Camille's version (the simple v-neck, she also does a tank top in her tutorial video)

i was kind of confused on how to start the whole thing but i found this video that really simplifies it for anyone else who wants to try this

supplies:

- a knitted tee shirt or tank or anything! as long as its knitted (everyone keeps saying this doesn't work on woven fabrics, i have no technical knowledge so im just taking their word for it lolz)... and thats all!

here are my results, it looks almost like a mix between soft lace and cheese cloth... from far away lolz (i tested it out on an old von dutch (ugh) tee i had and when it turned out really well i did it on a t-shirt that i had turned into a muscle beach tank (you know big giant arm holes) down the center of the back... can't wait to wear this at the beach! i wanted it straight down the middle of the back but because of the fabric it veered to the side lolz... still looks kinda cool tho ;) i wanna make one that looks like Camille's, on a simple white v-neck all down the side)

just wanted to post my OOTD real quick (VBLOG POST NEXT weeeeeh!)... wore the button up from yesterday again :) i stepped out of the house at like 8am and it was just like super sunny and really warm... so i figured it was time to break the shorts out FINALLY! [aviators, blue button down, small brown atb bag - all thrifted, skirt from JCPenney, large turquoise/silver ring - farmer's market, gold-ish cuff - Charlotte Russe (is wearing silver AND gold accessories tacky? lolz fuck it) this bow came from the packaging on the gift that my best friend gave me and i noticed that its the exact same color as the bag so i retied the bow and secured it in the back with a couple safety pins to add a temporary girly touch :)]

oh yeah... i know a few months back i said i didn't think i'd try rocking the bun... but i was up late last night watching an episode of The City and i just became hypnotized by Whitney Port's always chic and simple buns...

i think this will become my go-to bummy outfit :) instead of jeans and a hoodie. its not hard to put on skinnys, a white v-neck, and this awesome short sleeved safari coat! i kno its more like a short sleeved trench but its made of linen so it really gives me an African safari vibe ;) wish i owned that hat lolz

lady like monster ootd

ran a few errands, bargain orgasm'd, saw my besty and her hubby's new crib, hung out with my cuzzz :) = nice day.

when i pictured this outfit in my head... i really wanted to set my hair in some rods and have super curly Annie hair and top it off with the headband... but i was low on time and didn't have enough to set my hair properly... here is the failed attempt (set for about 20 mins before showering) but it wasn't how i wanted it (not that it didnt look nice, maybe for another day)

so heres the outfit w/my regular sucky hair lolz... i swear me & the time management!

weekend outfit, fun, photos, and even a club review

this was my fun weekend :)

Friday

Mingle and Plei with my old friend Fatima and her girlfriend Mariela and their friend Willy. Also met up with Nikstar (from xoxo Nikstar) and she is just as delightful in person as she is in her blog! hopefully we'll be able to hang out again in the future :) enjoyed board games, drinks, a little dancing, and a lotta laughs this night! ;D

[this was my intended outfit for the night... but that belt was just doing nothing for me but reading SANTA HO HO HO MERRY CHRISTMAS when paired with the new red dress (from Faith 21, sorry not available online) and plus something was telling me to go with flats, so i decided to work it differently ;)]

Friday's outfit consisted of:

- red empire waist cap sleeve cotton dress (Faith 21, around $20) i loooove the way this dress fits on me! i know u can't tell really but it has such great darts and pleating in ALL the right places (must remember to take photo of the back! must!) and it flares out just enough from the thick empire waist band

- brown woven zipper belt - random store in Cerritos mall

- black opaque tights, i thought these really weren't gonna work with the red and brown combo of my outfit but i think it fits in pretty well :)

- brown faux suede over the knee boots - Ross, these have really cute buckle and lace details on the back and can be worn folded or unfolded

- gold delicate dangly hoop earrings (old), gold heart and fortune cookie necklace (old), California 2 finger ring (Forever 21), faceted bronze/gold bangle (old), glass ring with gold flecks (old) decided to show a nice picture showing the details of that ring cuz i reaaaally love it :)

Mingle and Plei (in Los Angeles) review

I first heard of this place from Nikstar's boyfriend Ryan (check out his super funny comic/blog The Adventures of Coochie, Piggy, and the Chickenhead, how can u NOT check it out with that title?! lolz) who works there. You can check out more details on what Mingle and Plei is all about here. It's basically a night club that ISN'T a typical night club... there's drinks and music and a dance floor... but there's also jenga, monopoly, dominoes, guess who, scrabble, battleship, and loads of other nostalgia type games for everyone to enjoy freely (as long as tables and boards permit) and also hula hoop and musical chair competitions! It's the freshest concept i've ever seen in the late night adult entertainment department and really worth checking out if youre in the LA area or willing to drive out here. There's definitely a large turnout of people all night and a good mix of hip-hop/reggae/r&b music pumpin. I have pretty much only one gripe about this place and that is that they should really try and find a bigger venue. From what I know they've been around for a while and they've really grown in popularity, because of this the place was pretty much jam packed ALL night! I really think they should consider finding a place with a larger dance floor and just straight up more space. Aside from this though, everything was pretty enjoyable :).

Saturday

i got invited to a bonfire at Bolsa Chica beach by Fatima, Mariela, and their friends. Ended up meeting a couple of super nice and funny gals :), scraping up my thighs on gravel that was supposedly sand :(, charring some hot dogs, drinking, listening to some great guitar playing, and shooting the shit til the wee hours of the night. lovely :)

[don't mind my unhappy looking face lolz it got pretty cold when we were outta the water and our bonfire was pretty much a FAIL ;x aaand this is the only pic i took of myself all day]

i know i really should have took photos of my swimwear, not that its anything new, but just so u guys kno wut i wear when i take a dip, cuz i love seeing wut u other chiquitas rock for the sun and sand!
